🔎 Fediverse Safety & Accountability

I’ve been reflecting on how different Fediverse instances are run, and how much power admins and moderators have over users. With that power comes responsibility.

From now on, I intend to scrutinize and document harmful or unsafe moderation practices across the Fediverse. This is not about targeting individuals, but about protecting community members and raising awareness.

Every instance should be accountable for how it treats its users. Cyberbullying, abuse of authority, and dismissive behavior must not be ignored.

Transparency and accountability are not optional — they are essential for a healthier and safer Fediverse.

Just a small language matter. I think:

What if instead of opting out of content and #federation (fediblock), instances COULD CHOOSE to opt in to content and federation?

works much better in my mental model how the "FediVerse" should function. This type of behavior doesn't need to be universal.

What if instead of opting _out_ of content and #federation (fediblock), instances had to opt _in_ to content and federation?

What I mean by that:

* Instead of "things appear in the federated timeline by default" it is "only servers that have been reviewed show up in the fedderated timeline."

* Instead of "follow requests require review if coming from a silenced server" it would be "non-mutual follow requests require review unless coming from a reviewed server."
