SUMO-mediated regulation of H3K4me3 reader SET-26 controls germline development in C. elegans

ULP-2 is a conserved SUMO protease required for embryonic development in C. elegans, but its precise function remains unclear. Here, the authors show that ULP-2 controls germline development by regulating the SUMOylation levels of the H3K4me3 reader SET-26, and thus its activity.

Key Weakness of COVID-19 Discovered
New research identified that the COVID virus relies on a human post-translation process called SUMOylation for replication, a process similar to that of Influenza A and B. Blocking this process could lead to the development of antiviral medications effective against multiple viruses, including flu, RSV, and Ebola.

Key Weakness of COVID-19 Discovered

A research study found that without key proteins, the virus cannot infect people. Recent research from UC Riverside has identified  COVID’s Achilles heel — its dependence on key human proteins for its replication — which can be used to prevent the virus from making people sick. In a new paper pu
