There are a few reasons I think Humza Yousaf's victory in the #SNPLeadershipElection may prove a poisoned chalice. Firstly because 30% of members boycotted all 3 candidates that's a big pool of potential voters if polls turn against the SNP, which can't be ruled out. Secondly, those who wanted to stop Humza Yousaf will feel able to launch a second leadership bid if polls don't go well. I think party unity will be hard to come by.

I'm glad Kate Forbes lost the #SNPLeadershipElection. Ash Regan never had a chance because, regardless of how much traction some of her positions may have within the wider independence movement, most who backed those positions have quit the party over the last few years. Secondly, she was an incompetent advocate meaning her wing of the party felt depressed. Not only did 30% of the members boycott the process, but most of Regan's second preferences went to the candidate the other 2 wanted to lose

So #HumzaYousaf won the final runoff against #KateForbes 52:48. I propose we call this #TheBrexitRatio. 😬 #SNP #SNPLeadershipElection
