Switched back to #6Music since they're supposed to be covering the #MercuryMusicPrize until midnight and it's off the telly now. Turns out the winners, Ezra Collective, seem to have found an excuse to be interviewed by other people. I like the cut of their gib.

Liking this last number Ezra Collective is playing. Gideon Coe probably has played them either on his old show or on his Thursday night solo show. I don't think he'll be unhappy they won. Maybe he'll convince Marc Riley to play some of their stuff too. I wouldn't complain if that's what happens. #MercuryMusicPrize

Ezra Collective won the #MercuryMusicPrize. Not heard much of their music, but the little I have heard doesn't sound terrible so I will try to listen to some more. Don't think Marc Riley will be bothered since he's not played anyone on the short list. To the best of my knowledge. Shameful that the music he does play is entirely absent from this award.

Lankum. Would like them to win. Jock Strap sounded interesting, based on just one song. No idea what the rest of the album is like. Some of Ezra Collective seems okay. #MercuryMusicPrize

As far as I'm aware there is not a single artist/band on the #MercuryMusicPrize short list who've featured once on Marc Riley's show. Gid may have played Young Fathers. And it's possible he's played that traditional folk music group with the left field musicianship. I hope one of those two wins. Not very impressed by the others.

Btw, I did start listening to the #MercuryMusicPrize show on #6Music first but when it got televised on #BBC4 i switched. This is the first time I've listened to Tom Ravenscroft's show with Deb Grant. It's as bad as I feared. Won't be tuning in again. Deb Grant's committed commercial suicide by associating with Ravenscroft, imho. What an insult to the listeners of Gid Coe and Marc Riley. Hope the listening figures fall through the floor and Samantha Moy gets the sack for network sabotage.

If Elon Musk's goon squad weren't still keeping me waiting for a response to my appeal I'd be tweeting about the #MercuryMusicPrize there. As it is I'm looking for feedback here. For my part I no longer love the music that competes for that prize as much as I once did. Only just learning who's on the short list. Most of them are news to me, although I do like Young Fathers. One of the others, forget their name, impressed me. Traditional folk music cover versions but tinged with a Velvet's feel.
