Last year, I was disassembling the #BASIC of the #Sega #SC3000 ROM from 1983. I could easily read the texts in #ASCII format in the binary... but something looked weird to me: some texts were ending with code 7 before the 0 marking the end of the phrase, and only for error texts. I've never seen that "7" code in ascii or unicode before: Values bewteen 0 and 32 are not characters. Then I remembered errors were notified with a beep sound when using the basic, when the error message is displayed. And what do you think code 7 is for in ASCII ? A bell sound. Well, makes sense.
