There’s good news from Tübingen University Hospital. The surgeon is very pleased with the outcome of the operation; tomorrow we’ll find out whether the patient is happy too – going from -11 dioptres to -3 dioptres must be quite a strain. Thank you all for keeping your fingers crossed. The Rudel is naturally more relaxed now that the dog dad is more relaxed, and they really enjoyed the two walks (and the time in the office, where there was also a fire drill) despite a bit of rain. We can now look to the future with a little more peace of mind. Again: thank you.

There aren’t many photos today – partly because we were caught in a heavy downpour, and partly because tomorrow is perhaps the most crucial day of our lives. The chronicler’s wife is having cataract surgery, which isn’t really a problem in itself. But when you only have one eye (well, two, but one is made of glass), there’s no room for error. Either way, from Wednesday onwards we’ll have a demanding patient at home. And we’d appreciate your keeping your fingers crossed for us.

You can actually take dogs out of the car one at a time 😄 We’d actually planned to visit the chronicler’s father, but that didn’t work out for various reasons. But a lazy Sunday has its advantages too. In any case, the Rudel thoroughly enjoyed the day in the meadow and at home, getting plenty of cuddles. A beautiful day.

Back in the meadow. Lovely. The Rudel loves going on trips, but it’s especially lovely here in our meadow. We met into Ronja straight away, which was the perfect start to the daily routine that’s set to begin next week. And yes, we had 30 ticks again, but that’s just the way it is.

We’ve arrived home safely. Tapis would have preferred to stay, but the rest of us would have liked to as well. A little detour took us to Sarrebourg, where there’s a chapel with beautiful stained-glass windows by Marc Chagall. And we’d actually planned to go for a short walk along the Rhine, but Germany greeted us with rain. Oh well, from tomorrow we’ll be back out on the meadow. A lovely holiday!

Another day spent surrounded by nature, with two long walks through the woods in the valley with the Rudel. But of course, there was a bit of culture on the cards too. We visited Baccarat, a small town on the Meurthe, with a long tradition of glassmaking and a fascinating church, St Remy, built of concrete and wood with beautiful stained-glass windows. Dinner for the Rudel and a beer for the chronicler were certainly well deserved. A beautiful day.

A wonderful, lazy day in the Vosges. We went for two long walks around the village, and apart from that we watched the rain and listened to the thunderstorm. It’s a good thing that Tapis and Éclaire aren’t afraid of the thunder, and that Ici is now deaf enough not to be scared anymore. Everyone had time to read books, and there was cheese from Saint-Nectaire and Meaux for everyone. That’s what holidays are all about.

We still need to send a few more photos; the internet connection was too weak yesterday. That can happen in the countryside.
A lovely day. We were at Lac de Vingeanne, which was created to feed the Marne-Saône Canal, and later we walked along the canal from home. That brings today’s total to 12 kilometres, and the pack is tired and content. Tomorrow we’re leaving here and heading slowly towards the Vosges. We’ve had a lovely time here.

We spent a lot of time in the garden today, but Éclaire and Tapis also went on a trip to Langres. Ici was allowed to stay in the cool house and relax. A lovely day out for the Rudel.
