It's been a long day today. In the morning, we were still traveling through the Swabian Alb in sub-zero temperatures, and now we're in the east of the Vosges mountains, where spring is just beginning. It's been a beautiful day, and the Rudel is tired.

A morning walk in the fresh snow. The Rudel was thrilled. And then we set off for France for our first overnight stay in Reims. Such a beautiful city, and it smells so good too.
Tomorrow we'll visit the cathedral and then continue on to the Atlantic Ocean. A happy Rudel.

The day started early, for some reason Tiffi had to go out again. Well, old dog, the trip, whatever. But she really enjoyed the walk to the river later and so did Ici and Tapis. But it's also wonderful there.

A fun day on our trip. The local rally drove past our house with some very nice cars. But of course the pack had plenty of time to smell and play. And with the last car (not really suitable for a rally) friends arrived who spent a few days with us.

Day eleven of our trip. The Rudel had some fun in the garden and the we took a trip to the Stèle de Gibraltar. This stele has nothing to do with Gibraltar, the British possession in the very south of Spain. It is just an alliteration of Xibaltarre (Saint-Sauveur in Basque).
It marks the intersection of three routes of the Way of St. James: via Turonensis (Tours route), via Lemovicensis (Vézelay route) and via Podensis (Puy route).
And after that the Rudel had again some fun in the garden and the river. Was a beautiful day.

Next day on our journey through france. Another lazy day at "our" moulin near Bardos. Playing in the garden and the river, posing for the chronicler and relaxing on the sofa. Once more a good day.

But of course but we continue our journey through France. We saw the Garabit-Viaduc, were sheltered under the umbrellas of Aurillac (and had a drink at the lavoir there), visited Figeac and then the air became more and more mediterannean. Driving slow on the country roads with open windows, it was a real holiday feeling. And then we found this little Hotel in the middle of nowhere with super-friendly people and an excellent cuisine. Was a good day.

Day three was so packed of impressions, we had to split it in two contributions. After the time in Clermond-Ferrand and the Puy de Dôme we had a long walk and a quiet time in and around Issoire, along the river Allier and in the beautiful parks there. Like I said before, it is a very dog (and cat) friendly city and with the Rudel we had many nice talks with the people there. And at the end of the day we made a plan for the next route, old school, with a map, glasses and a cold beer. And three happy and tired dogs.

In 2016 we went to Lago d'Iseo in the north of Italy to see the Christo installation "floating piers". That was really really chaotic there, far too few parking spaces, train failures, an incredible number of people. We gave up. I took the first picture from the opposite shore (you can see a orange line arounf the island on the first picture). Instead we went to Brescia, a beautiful city, and played with the dogs at the river Chiese near Prevalle, where we had a beautiful flat. And a phantastic breakfast every morning. Was a good trip.
