Tignecourt bid us farewell as it had welcomed us: with fog. Enchanting. On the way home, we stopped to see the highest lock on the Rhine-Marne Canal. It wasn't particularly spectacular, but walking a few kilometers along a canal is always nice. And now we're back home safe and sound, the Rudel is happy and tired. Tomorrow, everyday life begins again and, of course, we have to think about where to go next.

Today we only did a short morning walk because a hunt had been announced around the village. We didn't really want to get involved in that. So we drove to Vallon Martin and walked for two hours to the chapel and the cave. It was beautiful there! Unfortunately, we couldn't visit an old NATO base nearby, but the ruins of Morimond Abbey were also interesting. In the evening, fog rolled in from the river valleys, and there are many here, including the young Saone, which has its own magic. A beautiful day for the Rudel.

Another long but interesting day. Fog enveloped us during our morning walk, but soon the sun brought out the contours and colors. Then we walked past the Apostles' Stone to the old Bonneval Abbey. And we also found the monument of a bullet. Then a nice evening walk, a bowl full of food, and after 15 kilometers, it was a great day. Now the Rudel is tired...

The Rudel is back home. It was a good idea to split up the trip, because we drove onto the highway in snowfall. Yes, there is some winter road maintenance, but only a few cars have winter tires, which makes it a bit dangerous. However, there were few cars on the road and no trucks at all, because they are simply stopped when the roads are slippery. So we got through relatively well, and after Metz the sun came out. Thanks again to Fabrice for this wonderful vacation!

Farewell to the Atlantic. We actually wanted to leave tomorrow, but snowfall is forecast for northern France and southern Germany. So we drove a little east of Paris today, which means we only have about 600 kilometers to go tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for us that the Rudel gets through safely.

The morning walk was a little shorter than usual because there was slush on the streets and some roads were closed. And the road to the beach was "submersee", as the signs had already warned. But later, when the tide had receded, we had a lovely walk. In the evening, the sea and sky reached into their paintbox and it was a wonderful walk for the Rudel. Days at the seaside are fantastic.

A lazy day, but then again, it is vacation. And a very Norman day. Sun. Rain. Storm. The Rudel had a wonderful 7 kilometers on the beach. What more could you want?

Hopefully, you all had a good start to the new year. We had three long walks on the beach and in the salt marshes in front of the house. A few lamb bones for the Rudel, a glass of champagne for the chronicler—it was a beautiful day.

We arrived safely, it's only about 250 kilometers. The Rudel sniffed around the apartment and approved. Tomorrow we'll explore the area and visit the local winemaker. A beautiful day.

Back home. For breakfast, there was yogurt for the Rudel and, of course, a massage from the Chef. It was a wonderful trip through a fantastic country. Fortunately, we still have a few days off and can arrive relaxed.
