Is #RouterFreedom officially dead in USA?
I would love to learn more about this law prohibiting the commercialisation of imported routers in the US.

Do you know what #RouterFreedom is?
It is the right of users to choose and operate their own routers, modems, and other equipment used for internet connection.
It is important for user autonomy, competition, and privacy as it enables users to run #FreeSoftware operating systems on their routers and modems.

Turns out Dutch ISP Odido scans and reports the devices on your network via their provided router. At least we have #RouterFreedom in the Netherlands so anyone can install a router (modem) they trust. Learn more at https://fsfe.org/activities/routers/routers.html

Encouraging to see people mobilising and demanding #RouterFreedom.
Although the #NetNeutrality regulation in the EU is reaching its 10th anniversary, many member states still do not allow consumers to use their own routers.
There will be a window of opportunity to harmonise #RouterFreedom across the EU, though:

#DigitalNetworksAct and #RouterFreedom
For more than a decade, the Free Software Foundation Europe has worked to protect #RouterFreedom in Europe.
The European Union is about to reform the telecom sector, and we call for a clear and harmonised approach that upholds the freedom of terminal equipment across all Member States.
⚠️ We also submitted our position on #RouterFreedom to the @EUCommission’s consultation on the #DNA
