In my youth, before Kevin Costner appeared in any films, we spent a lot of time up at Crag Lough, on the Roman Wall, climbing and never really noticed The Tree. I reckon this "TheTree" worship is a new phenomenon. Driven by marketing probably. #SycamoreGap #RomanWall

Lately, everybody is talking about the beautiful newly displayed #RomanWall at Vine Street in #London, not least me.
However, in the 17th c. somebody dumped large amounts of #glass working waste from blowing #winebottles (and a few other things) at the same site. Well worth a look. #archaeology #history

Into the post-Christmas dog days, the photo of the day of the year reaches August. Here's a visit to a favourite location on the Roman wall, Housesteads fort, which was housing an installation "The Future Belongs to What Was As Much As What Is", by artist Morag Myerscough, poet Ellen Moran with words sourced from the community along the wall.
