Hey Preachers!
Next Sunday's gospel in the #RevisedCommonLectionary is the story of the Road to Emmaus in Luke 24.13–35. If the Gospel was ONLY easy to hear, it might be impossible NOT to follow Jesus. So what is there about Jesus or the Gospel in this passage that's challenging or difficult to hear?

Hey Preachers!
Next Sunday's gospel in the #RevisedCommonLectionary is the story of the Road to Emmaus in Luke 24.13–35. Assuming that the Gospel always has good news for the church and the world, what do you see that's attractive about Jesus or the Gospel in this passage?

From a sermon I preached six years ago, also in Year A, at the Easter Vigil, tying up all the themes from the previous Sundays' gospel lessons:

'Like Nicodemus, we have come to Jesus by night and we are learning how to be born again. Like the Samaritan woman at the well, we receive living water springing up in us to eternal life, and we are learning how to call our friends and neighbours to see this man who changed our lives. Like the man born blind, our eyes have been opened, and we are learning how to recognize Jesus as our Saviour. Like Lazarus, Jesus has called us by name, and we are learning how to get up out of the tombs of our indifference to new life in his kingdom. The story goes on and on...'

Lutherans Restoring Creation is a grassroots movement promoting care for creation in the #EvangelicalLutheranChurchInAmerica (#ELCA). Some of you might be interested in these lectionary commentaries using the #RevisedCommonLectionary that "explore ways an eco-theological interpretation may be an integral part of a theologically sound, exegetically based, understanding of scripture and well-known Bible verses."

I don't preach all the time — about every 6 to 8 weeks — but I almost always use the #RCL #RevisedCommonLectionary and would like to read other #Lectionary #preachers in the Fediverse.
