Our new corporate owners' IT rules have changed the #retentionpolicy on Microsoft #Teams. Instead of years, now two months.

I relish screams of "oh no the IMPORTANT FILE is gone!" - I kept telling people `Teams/Slack/Discord/Matrix is NOT a document repository! Stop storing important shit in ephemeral discussion forums!!!` ....

@h4ckernews This has to be a result of the "I don't want to create a retention policy for that data - I might need it one day" thought process. It's essentially the digital form of hoarding. When new software gets developed it needs to have a proper #RetentionPolicy for #DataManagement or it will inevitably generate years and years of low quality data that "someone might use one day."

2 days after increasing the #RetentionPolicy for cached #Media that #PostChat keeps from other servers, the #StorageUsage grew by 20%. I am curious to see how much this will balloon.
