It's been a while since I've posted anything here; I've been spending a lot of time in Blender creating new assets and animations for the portion of Res Extensa that will appear in the upcoming trailer. Got the 3D model of #ResExtensa's first boss working in-game to replace the 2D placeholder asset that I'd been using until now. I still have some tweaks and bug-fixes to do before it's ready for the playable demo, but what I've got should be enough for the few seconds of footage I'll need for the trailer.

I've just completed the model for the first boss! It still needs to be rigged and animated, but it's getting closer.
Res Extensa uses a combination of 2D and 3D for its graphics. Most elements are 2D although some use a normal-mapping system to allow dynamic lighting as the object is rotated. The player and the bosses will be cel-shaded 3D objects, however, to allow more dynamic animation.

The #torontogameexpo was great, by the way. I was able to show off a brand new version of #ResExtensa consisting of the tutorial areas at the beginning of the game and I got a lot of feedback from them. There are a few areas where I'll have to make some adjustments to make the mechanics clearer, but generally people seemed to be having a good time.
Got my business cards printed! I'm going to be giving these out when I demo my game at the Toronto Game Expo next week on the 29th and 30th!

#ResExtensa features collectible energy cells that you can keep in an inventory and that can be used to refill your health at any time. The game keeps track of each cell and when you use them they re-appear where you originally found them so that they can be collected again.
