It's been a while since I've posted anything here; I've been spending a lot of time in Blender creating new assets and animations for the portion of Res Extensa that will appear in the upcoming trailer. I can show a bit of what I've been doing now, though, since I just got the new attack animations integrated into the game.

Got the 3D model of #ResExtensa's first boss working in-game to replace the 2D placeholder asset that I'd been using until now. I still have some tweaks and bug-fixes to do before it's ready for the playable demo, but what I've got should be enough for the few seconds of footage I'll need for the trailer.

I've just completed the model for the first boss! It still needs to be rigged and animated, but it's getting closer.

Res Extensa uses a combination of 2D and 3D for its graphics. Most elements are 2D although some use a normal-mapping system to allow dynamic lighting as the object is rotated. The player and the bosses will be cel-shaded 3D objects, however, to allow more dynamic animation.

A platform adventure game incorporating elements from immersive sims and cinematic platformers. Run, fight and hack your way through a distant space colony as you attempt to reclaim your humanity.

The #torontogameexpo was great, by the way. I was able to show off a brand new version of #ResExtensa consisting of the tutorial areas at the beginning of the game and I got a lot of feedback from them. There are a few areas where I'll have to make some adjustments to make the mechanics clearer, but generally people seemed to be having a good time.

And the website is back up! All the business cards that I gave out at the #torontogameexpo should have their QR codes work now.

I tried to add some functionality to my website in time for TGE and ended up hosing my entire server. For now, I have the overclockedabacus.ca domain redirecting here until I can talk with tech support and get the website up and running again.

Got my business cards printed! I'm going to be giving these out when I demo my game at the Toronto Game Expo next week on the 29th and 30th!

When I registered the domain name for Overclocked Abacus I registered both .com and .ca variants. Up until now I've only used the .com version and left the .ca unused, but I've recently set the website up to use both.

While both overclockedabacus.com and overclockedabacus.ca currently serve the same content I now consider the .ca version to be the "primary" domain and have been updating all of my links to point to it.
