tower's /dev/sdc now, since this morning... pic.

last year i initially plonked Kalpa on this SSD, then replaced it with KDELinux, then Kinoite. i recently made a moral decision to remove

from all my pooters, coz merkan [fuck trump!], & also apparently embracing the scourge of gen-ai, ugh.

/dev/sda, tower's original 2015 SSD, still has my 6.5 y/o ArchLinux on it, but for the past six or twelve months the bugger has been exasperating me with a spate of random system freezes that even defeat #REISUB, & so far has also defeated all my troubleshooting efforts. i'm frankly totes over it, & am now seriously considering possibly replacing it.

/dev/sdb is potentially gonna get another [or a replacement?] Arch, &/or SparkyTesting.

sadly though, for some of the now spare partitions across these three SSDs, i've been making numerous attempts over the last several days & nights to install various penguins that keep failing at the final stages of their installations, which is quite ... disappointing 🥺

Reisub can be your best friend, has saved my rear many, many times and most people forget this one easily :D If this fails your might have a firmware/Ec/uefi bug 💡 coldreboot/hardreset

Fwiw... a couple of months ago my 10 y/o Seagate HDD finally failed completely, going read only during my session, then crashing my subsequent bootups to the rescue screen [it held data, not my OS, but my fstab ofc wanted to mount it, & now couldn't]. its SMART data had been nagging me for literally years, at least three but i think prolly more, that it had a large number [which i forget, but it was much less than yours] of bad sectors [or blocks? sorry, i'm dim on the nomenclature], & given for almost all that time i couldn't sense anything operationally wrong, i just decided to carry on & see what happens. maybe four or five months ago, the pooter began suffering random complete freezes [ignored even #REISUB]. since the later failure, then replacement with a nice big SSD, the freezes seem to have stopped. fwiw, fyi. good luck to you!

@ellesaurus yes, it can be handy. also handy is "the magic SysReq" - do you know it?

hold Alt+PrtSc*, then sequentially press, slowly, R E I S U B [Raising Elephants Is So Utterly Boring]. Not all systems are already setup for this, so you might need to tweak a config file.
