I broke my 1 episode at a time, no binge rule to watch the first three episodes of #ReGenesis and alright #Canada I see y'all, this show is pretty good for a realistic #scifi procedural of the early 00s. A couple of episodes in this first season have had Windom Earle himself, Kenneth Welsh.

@urlyman @GeofCox I love what Rachel is doing with #PlanetCritical.. I also have some real concerns about #Monbiot - loved some bits of #Regenesis but found his ideas on #LabGrownFood and that #pesticides would still be needed all quite incongruous .. on one hand he revels in the biodiversity in the soil on his orchard then a few chapters later talks about how pesticides and fertilisers will still be needed which would destroy that life in soil.

PFAS “forever chemicals” are everywhere, including in groundwater and soil. Getting them out has for years involved pumping, treating and trucking, with varied results. A company called Regenesis has introduced a solution called SourceStop that uses activated carbon to, as the name suggests, stop PFAS contamination on site, in the ground.

I'm 1/3 through Regenesis by George Monbiot, and it's soul crushing. I understand he is setting the stage before introducing (I want to hope) proposals for a better future, but atm I can only think that we are totally screwed.
Please tell me it's worth to keep on reading.

George Monbiot really threw down the gauntlet with this one. I get his frustration. The planet has warmed and we’ve waited to long to start mitigation meaning we need more extreme mitigation efforts. Have I gone vegan after reading it? No. Do I consume large amounts of animal products? Also no. Did it make me think about how so much of what we consider ’better’ alternatives actually aren’t.
