The plot reminded me of the Fox TV show "Empire" about the trials & tribulations of Black family owned recording company. Never watched that show either.
Empire aired between 2015-2020 & the screenplay was reportedly given to Spike Lee before the Covid pandemic which was when Empire was still on the air which suggests that it may have been the inspiration for the movie.
However, the movie also is supposedly a remake of #Kurosawa's #HighAndLow (1963) starring #ToshiroMifune that I have never seen before.
I'm a big fan of Kurosawa's & Mifune's samurai movies, not so much the other films they made together but I'm going to see if I can find a DVD copy of "High & Low" which they made together between #Sanjuro (1962) & #RedBeard (1964) to watch & to add to my collection of Kurosawa/Mifune DVDs.
