Interesting enough for me to research it but it's not something that I'd care to see, even though it's still showing at some theaters locally. 🤷
The plot reminded me of the Fox TV show "Empire" about the trials & tribulations of Black family owned recording company. Never watched that show either.
Empire aired between 2015-2020 & the screenplay was reportedly given to Spike Lee before the Covid pandemic which was when Empire was still on the air which suggests that it may have been the inspiration for the movie.
However, the movie also is supposedly a remake of #Kurosawa's #HighAndLow (1963) starring #ToshiroMifune that I have never seen before.
I'm a big fan of Kurosawa's & Mifune's samurai movies, not so much the other films they made together but I'm going to see if I can find a DVD copy of "High & Low" which they made together between #Sanjuro (1962) & #RedBeard (1964) to watch & to add to my collection of Kurosawa/Mifune DVDs.
Watched this last night, it could have been too serious but it has the requisite quality of humour to keep it on the correct side of the line.

Doctor Sanada treats gangster Matsunaga after he is wounded in a gunfight, and discovers that he is suffering from tuberculosis. Sanada tries to convince Matsunaga to stay for treatment, which would drastically change his lifestyle. They form an uneasy friendship until Matsunaga's old boss Okada returns from prison.
