#WordWeavers 22 April 2025 Would your story work in a different setting?

Yes & no. The plots of my #RallyRhoades series could work in almost any setting that had similar attributes (notably, a “residence” large enough to house a variety of people, mostly teenagers, & events, that is surrounded by a larger community that is connected to the world). That being said, there are not many “residences” like a boarding school for teens & adults. They could work at virtually any residential school since the #TyndaleAcademies are an amalgam of the #BoardingSchools I attended growing up.

#WritersCoffeeClub 20 April 2025: What role does #Religion play in your #Writing ?

Religion or #faith plays a significant but subtle role in my #RallyRhoades series. These are #cozymystery stories ( #feminist take on #NeroWolfe meets #TrixieBelden ) are set at an #Episcopal #BoardingSchool

In other words, the rituals & tradition of an Episcopal school provide the daily rhythms & moral foundations of the stories. They are discussed & noted but not always in great detail. They definitely color the lens through which I, & the characters, see the world of the #TyndaleAcademies however, I don’t think readers need to be intimately aware of or even familiar with their nuances in order to enjoy or understand the stories (just like you don’t have to be a gourmand to appreciate the Nero Wolfe stories).

When I began writing these, I was emphatic that I wanted an Episcopal boarding school & flavor although I am still not sure why other than for authenticity (it’s my personal background).
