I've been attending #RLUK this week and unsurprisingly #AI in #Education and #Research is a hot topic.

Also this week, this fantastic manifesto on AI and scholarship was released. Written by two of my colleagues, Dr Ella McPherson and Prof Matei Candea, I think this is one of the more measured write ups of the challenges of AI, especially within the #highereducation space.

I love their Five Principles especially:

1. Think about it, talk about it.

2. Our values come first.

3. Stay ethically vigilant.

4. Embracing change doesn't mean giving up on the skills we have.

5. Be mindful of disciplinary diversity.

I strongly encourage reading this as a whole: https://www.cam.ac.uk/stories/ai-and-scholarship-manifesto

AI and scholarship: a manifesto

This manifesto and principles cut through the hype around generative AI to provide a framework that supports scholars and students in figuring out if, rather than how, generative AI contributes to their scholarship. This approach reminds us that what is at stake is nothing less than our educational values.

#DH2023 in Graz was such a wonderful celebration of Digital Humanities worldwide. It was great to attend this major DH event in-person and present a poster on my research with legacy catalogue data funded by #AHRC and #RLUK.
