Yet another small improvement in my image processing pipeline: correcting small geometric distortions via perspective transform.
One might expect there to be like half a pixel uncertainty when aligning two images. When you have only two, it does not matter. However, when you have 60, this tends to add up to a visible shift over the whole image. Now I can choose 4 points on it and the code warps the image such that those 4 points form a rectangle, reducing the distortion.
It is not ideal, of course, as several assumptions are made here, and especially this might be fragile when aligning several images. Certainly needs more testing, but output quality just went up a little bit.
