Why Even Physicists Still Donโ€™t Understand Quantum Theory 100 Years On

Wiktor Mazin. Credit: Wiktor Mazin, Quantum Fractal Artist Everyone has their favourite example of a trick that reliably gets a certain job done, even if they donโ€™t really understand why. Back in the day, it might have been slapping the top of your television set when the picture went fuzzy. Today, it might be turning your computer off and on again. Quantum mechanics the most successful and important theory in modern physics is like that. It works wonderfully, explaining things from lasers [โ€ฆ]

@guyjantic Bayes tied to methods in #QuantumComputation and elsewhere is where the citation for the article comes from. The statements in the article tell you nothing about that application or the challenges involved in adaptation to the quantum realm. Making vague statements with Bayesian terminology doesnโ€™t do the subject matter justice. Read the article. Then read the cited paper. That will illuminate the problem
2/2โ€ฆwhat the debunkers couldnโ€™t foresee was that future practical #QuantumComputation technology would require macro scaling and amplification of quantum features to be of any use at all.
Now to be clear we still are lacking observations of โ€œreally bigโ€ macroscopic quantum states out there โ€œau naturaleโ€ . #BlackHoles are likely really big quantum objects but try getting close enough to dust for prints. There are other candidates also. We get closer every day. It will still all be very weird
