It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the passing of Dr. Kiriakos Vlahos. Many know Kiriakos for his long and distinguished academic career and his work in decision sciences, energy, and environmental planning. But for those of us in the Delphi and Python communities, his legacy is also deeply rooted in software. Kiriakos (a.k.a. PyScripter) was the creator and driving force behind PyScripter and Python4Delphi (P4D), projects that for years have empowered developers to bridge Python and Delphi in a clean, elegant, and practical way. His work enabled countless professionals to bring modern Python capabilities into Delphi applications, and it did so with an attention to quality, architecture, and usability that reflected his intellectual rigor. He was a valued contributor to the broader Embarcadero ecosystem, respected not only for his technical excellence but also for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to mentor and support others. Many of us learned from him directly, through discussions, code reviews, and the example he set in his repositories. Kiriakos once told me that he saw me as a possible successor for P4D, a gesture that meant a great deal to me and speaks volumes about the trust and openness with which he worked. I am committed to helping keep his work alive and moving forward, honoring the standards and spirit he established. Kiriakos leaves behind a remarkable legacy, in academia, in industry, and in open source. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with his family, friends, students, and everyone whose work and life he touched. Rest in peace, PyScripter. https://lnkd.in/d4iednbm https://lnkd.in/dyiCHw5m https://lnkd.in/dH_Xa_if

🐍✨ Ah, the mythical Pyscripter: a #Python #IDE conjured from the arcane powers of #Delphi. Because, clearly, the world was gasping for a Frankenstein combo of forgotten languages. 🤖🔧 Meanwhile, GitHub's #AI overlords plot to eventually code themselves out of needing humans.
