MY RESPONSE:
My father's side of the family, native to Massachusetts for awhile, used to pronounce "aunt" with the "au" sound not just the short "a" even when I used to as a kid from Pennsylvania. So it never sounded totally wrong to me ...
Unique style, all right ... Let's see, per Wikipedia, he was born and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania, where his family had run a hardware store for generations. So, a Pennsylvanian sound. And I like this critic's description of him in an early movie: "lanky young bumpkin with a hesitant manner of speech." Ha!
Something you don't hear enough of in #boxing is commentators actually discussing name #pronunciations and adjusting to get it right. The commentators in this clip really get into it with #Gvozdyk first and then #Rodrigues later. This should be the norm for an #international #sport but simply isn't.
My answering machine just screened a call from "FID-ul dell FYE-uh."
I was so tickled that I almost picked up.
How do you pronounce #SIEM
