It's important to celebrate the small victories. No matter how small. Do not minimize them.

Remain skeptical and ready to fight again soon, of course. But take the time to enjoy this little dopamine hit. Your brain needs it to survive the long battle for privacy rights 💚🔒

Be happy today,
your actions helped! Yay!  🎉
You can wait tomorrow to be angry again ✊

YES! This is AMAZING! 🎉

Keep pushing against abusive practices, and keep fighting for your privacy rights!

IT WORKS! ✊🔒

Edit: Just to be clear, I still encourage everyone to move to better platforms and delete your Discord accounts (even if there was no age verification at all). Discord isn't a privacy-respectful platform.

But this small victory means we should keep pushing for better privacy practices, everywhere.

This means they are listening. This means you have the power to make things better, for yourself and for others.

Celebrate that. And keep pushing back.

Discord just canceled its planned age verification rollout, for now - 9to5Mac

Discord’s controversial age verification saga has reached a new turning point. The original rollout plan has officially been canceled, with...

A big #PrivacyWin today as my band #Slugmilk asked me for an alternative to the band's #discord server. They are NOT infosec folks, so I was some proud when they decided enough is enough.

We now have a private #matrix server which we #selfhost. Everyone has their own slugmilk.org username and everything!

Matrix is far from perfect, but this is exactly what we need, and it is under our ownership and control.

Now to get them all on the #Fediverse!

1. **Primär**: Digitale-Rechte-Communities (z.B. Instanzen wie `privacy.ti`‚ `social.weho.st`)
2. **Sekundär**: Teile der Klima- & Tech-Kritik-Bubbles (z.B. `climatejustice.rocks`, `mastodon.xyz`)

„Wie stoppen wir die #Chatkontrolle ohne in Sicherheitstheater zu verfallen?
🧵 Mein Take:
1. Politiker checken Technikfolgen nicht (Beispiel: E2EE = 'Terroristen-Tool' laut BSI-Statement 2024)
2. Wir müssen *ihre* Sprachlosigkeit nutzen: Juristisch _und_ geekig kontern.
– Was sind eure besten Anti-Überwachungs-Tools/Taktiken? #FSF #EncryptionMatters

**Reasoning**:

EP rejects mass scanning of private messages - European Digital Rights (EDRi)

This marks a positive development for human rights in one of the most controversial draft European Union (EU) laws in recent memory.

Earlier this year, I submitted a comment to the Colorado #privacy rulemaking, based on my experience with meaningless responses to #CCPA #RtK

"The revised regulations also require companies to 'avoid incomprehensible internal codes' and to 'include explanations' for the data that is provided in an access request. Both changes could dramatically increase the burden on businesses when responding to access requests." #privacyWin
