Predatory und andere fragwürdige Praktiken in der wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation

Der Begriff Predatory Publishing ist schnell zur Hand, wenn es darum geht, fragwürdige Praktiken in der wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation zu benennen. Eine konkrete Definition ist jedoch nicht ganz so einfach, denn bei eingehenderer Betrachtung lässt sich erkennen, dass sich dahinter eine Vielzahl an unlauteren oder mitunter auch „unbeholfenen“ Vorgehensweisen verbirgt. Auch die Praxis zeigt, dass in den meisten Fällen eine eindeutige Zuordnung („gut“ oder „böse“) den tatsächlichen Gegebenheiten nicht ganz gerecht wird. Es braucht daher einen diversen Blick statt des Versuchs einer binären Kategorisierung. Im Mittelpunkt des Vortrags steht die Frage: Welche Kriterien können zur Beurteilung von Verlagen, Zeitschriften und Konferenzen herangezogen werden, um sie (schließlich) als betrügerisch, irreführend/täuschend oder vielleicht am Ende doch nur als qualitativ fragwürdig bzw. gar qualitativ hochwertig zu bezeichnen? Der Vortrag wurde im Rahmen der Webinar-Reihe Open Access Talk des BMBF-geförderten Projektes open-access.network am 06.06.2023 gehalten.
