Die räuberischen Larven der Gerandeten Steinfliege (Perla marginata) entwickeln sich in Fließgewässern über 3 Jahre bis zu einer imposanten Larvenlänge von über 3 cm. Nach dem Schlupf fressen sie nicht mehr und sterben nach ca. 2 Wochen. Da die Larven bis zu ihrem Schlupf sauberes Wasser benötigen, sind sie zur Bestimmung der Wassergüte gut geeignet. Eine einzige Gifteinleitung und es gäbe die Art nicht.

Cet insecte, c’est un plécoptère (ou « perle »), et il tambourine avec son abdomen pour communiquer avec ses semblables (probablement pour se reproduire) ! Un peu comme les criquets vont striduler, ou bien les oiseaux vont chanter.

There are two things a #stonefly takes seriously: its pronotum and its wing venation.

Stonefly lore is full of heroes with large pronota (the collar type thing just behind the head) and their coat-of-arms features wings with the most intricate venation. It's almost comical, really, but don't tell them that - stoneflies are easily offended and angry stoneflies are no fun.
