#KDE und ich werden keine Freunde mehr. Nach mehreren Versuchen, bin ich jetzt zurück, zu #XFCE und habe #Hyprland zusätzlich zum Testen im Einsatz. Mein Problem war, nach jedem Update vom Kernel ließen sich Programme nicht laden. Zwar habe ich viel gelernt, dank ChatGPT fand ich schon einige Lösungen, aber für ein Rolling Release, ist es nicht praktisch. Gnome fiel schon raus, weil #Pamac mir dort nicht angezeigt wird. Ich nehme es gern zum Entdecken von Anwendungen. Zum Updaten verwende ich sowieso das Terminal. #linux #cachyos

Weil 2026 das Jahr des Linux-Desktops ist, nur der Routine-Rant über mein ansonsten sehr geschätztes EndeavourOS: Ihr dürft ja gern pamac und andere graphische Paketverwaltungen von übel finden und nicht standardmäßig ausliefern. Aber BITTE paketiert sie doch. "Konsole ist besser" ist subjektiv und schließt einfach unnötig Leute aus, die nicht in der Lage oder willens sind, bei jedem pacman-update pamac zu deinstallieren und gegen die neuen Bibliotheken neu zu bauen.

The ThinkPad A475 is back to life, this time as Crosshair, running a fresh install of CachyOS.

#CachyOS is intriguing, even though it took some work to get it installed and working. I haven’t played with #Arch since Manjaro borked my installation about a year ago.

CachyOS has no Discover in Plasma, no #Pamac, no #Flatpak. Octopi does packages, and Arch nerds will sniff that it and the AUR are all you need.

I beg to differ.

sudo pacman -S pamac flatpak

Fixed.

Para alguien iniciante en Manjaro, algun problema si instalo apenas desde pamac-manager y desde manjaro-application-utility sin usar AUR?

Si decides usar #manjaro y siendo novato, con mayor razón la gestión de paquetes recomendada es con #pamac en lugar de #pacman. Es más amigable en los comandos y podrás recordarlos más fácil, y con ayuda de #kde discover incluso podrás gestionar la instalación de paquetes #flatpak de manera gráfica.

@starlily Nowadays I install most apps with #flatpak, and if I forget to use the `--delete-data` argument when removing an app, I can always just run `flatpak uninstall --unused`. But for #pamac / #pacman packages, if I am not mistaken, the config files are left behind when packages are removed.

#manjaro users, do you use the #pamac or #pacman command line interface to maintain your #linux installation? Like, `pamac list -o && pamac remove -o` or `pacman -Qdtq | pacman -Rns -`?
