I just hosed my #EndeavourOS install trying to play with #SteamOS.
My intention was to install #SteamOS on a separate drive but it didn't ask and went straight to formatting my main drive.
Warning: The installer says you have ten seconds to cancel, by hitting CTRL-C, before format starts. Don't believe it! I hit CTRL-C in about two seconds and it went straight to formatting.
Got EndeavourOS installed on my laptop and named it with the most appropriate of names. I put it aside for now because I've touched computers for so long today. I need food (I snacked a little).
It is nice, because I have to engage with Arch a little bit more. Some of the convenience features are borked so I used the terminal to begin the set-up process. I installed some basics.
Their interpretation of Sway is absolutely pretty to look at. It works smoothly and uses very little in the way of CPU/RAM. Can't wait to get that bad boy set-up fully.
Yep, I reached my hard limit of expertise, while a good mastodon buddy @wendigo was able to assist with enabling a USE Flag. In order to build this kernel there are so many USE Flags to alter, I am getting dizzy because the overwhelm is hitting me like a ton of bricks.
I recognize when I am outplayed, and this is the point in time when I must concede. I will be better prepared, perhaps if I actually try this again in the distant future.
The horrors did indeed find me and I suffered beautifully for my hubris.
Respectfully, I bow to Gentoo this day. As it opened my eyes to the basics.
Made me realize that I am not ready for this level of complexity. I'll install EnvdeavorOS and wade in my Arch Kiddie pool for the time being. ROFL

@Steve12L Fedora was my daily driver, but I noticed a jump in speed when switching to Garuda from Fedora. My machines boot in ⅔ the time, and everything feels snappier.
I have #CachyOS on two of my computers, and it's been great as well, but Garuda has more built-in maintenance tools and isn't as picky about the Wi-Fi adapter in my laptops. I also had a good experience with #EndeavourOS.
