Esteemed brothers and sisters, peace and blessings be upon you.
I greet you all – whether you are within our country or in any corner of the world – on this blessed and joyous Eid al-Adha.
Happy Eid al-Adha to each and every one of you, wherever you may be.
May the blessed sacrifice of Abraham be celebrated.
I also extend my respects to our esteemed Hajj pilgrims who have gathered in the blessed Kaaba to perform the sacred pilgrimage and pray for the well-being of the people of Afghanistan and all Muslims of the world.
Today's gathering of Muslims at the Kaaba is a clear testament to the fact that our belief is not the monopoly of any individual or group. This sacred belief is a heritage that has been passed down to us through generations, born from collective thought and consciousness. Therefore, on the Day of Judgment, every Muslim will be accountable to Allah Almighty for their own deeds.
Our pure and shared belief has never been a cause of division among our people; rather, it has always been a source of great value that has brought our hearts closer together and strengthened the bonds of brotherhood. What has caused division are those who have made belief exclusive and political.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Nearly six months ago, I spoke to you and said that our nation stood at a crossroads between life and ruin, facing a difficult but necessary choice. Since then, my voice has been silenced, and my communication has been cut off. However, during this time, my heart has not been distant from you, nor have I forgotten you. Today, on this day of mercy, I return to you and resume the unfinished discussion from where it left off, because during these months, not only have the choices remained the same, but the situation has become even more urgent, and the two paths have reached the brink of a precipice.
We celebrate Eid in a situation where the pain of our fellow countrymen who have been martyred and injured due to bombings in Kabul, Paktika, Khost, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Kunar, and other provinces is still fresh in our hearts. I offer my condolences to all the bereaved families. I also remind Pakistan to view Afghanistan through the eyes of Iqbal, the great poet of the East, to understand its own worth and dignity, and to comprehend that Asia cannot achieve stability without the stability of its heart. The notion that colonial borders have separated our pains must also be abandoned. Our brothers and sisters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan experience the same pain that we do; it is our shared pain.
Dear compatriots,
This year, Eid al-Adha arrives at a time of unprecedented change in the region, and the scope of the war has expanded to our neighbors, Iran and the Gulf countries. In these countries, including Afghan refugees, millions of people have been affected, displaced, and are living with deep concerns about their fate. In a situation where the entire region is undergoing transformation, indifference means that others will make decisions for you. The need for regional cooperation has increased more than ever, and the key to it lies in our beloved country. Therefore, an economy-driven policy is one of our main priorities, which requires the cohesion of all Afghan national capacities to achieve it.
The world has waited nearly five years to see what changes would occur in Afghanistan, but this expectation, mixed with disappointment, is nearing its end. Our country has been isolated as never before, and virtually all parties now view Afghanistan not as a neighbor, but as a security threat. Even those who were willing to give the ruling group a chance now openly say that they face the danger of terrorism from Afghan soil.
