New train set arrived early. #packidge

The dopamine hit of a library hold arriving is nearly as good as an AliExpress parcel! 🤪

Pro:
- it doesn't cost anything
- it's waiting for me on the shelf, not maybe at a wrong address somewhere nearby
- the waiting period is usually shorter
- I get a bike ride to collect it

Cons:
- I have to give it back 😢
- I don't get a flood of exciting incremental progress updates
- it doesn't seem to travel via upper Mongolia, West Wyalong, and it doesn't bounce repeatedly between nearby depots
- I don't get points to use towards future borrowings

The price of a bicycle cargo trailer (minus bonus, minus coupons, minus coins) has just dropped below the cost of a tank of petrol for my rarely-used tiny little Yaris.

So instead of trying to get the grocery total over whatever the minimum is for Click-and-Collect, while restricting the items to those which will Tetris into bicycle panniers and a backpack, I'll now have the option of, say, buying $100 worth of toilet paper and riding home with my goodies in the trailer.🚲😂

Or even better, riding my bike+trailer to a service station with a jerry can in the trailer. 🤪

Now to wait for #packidge

My bit of kindness - the AusPost contractor who enables my AliExpress habit (which I can stop whenever I want), is always on time, always friendly, polite and professional (apart from the anecdotes about previous clients who yelled at him for being too early, or too late, or delivering to the printed address instead of magically divining their work address 🤯)
So, using cardstock (which he delivered), and coated metal blanks (which he delivered), I used my laser engraver (which he delivered) to make this:

UPS emailed me to say they're about to deliver a parcel "Sat, 12th April". Or, maybe part of their system is cursed and uses middle-endian date format, which screwed-up how a different part of their system parses dates, and the parcel is due to arrive today? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Post office lady just explained to me, as if I was an idiot, that because of the tariffs that Trump has put on Australian goods sold in China, Aust Post can no longer leave cards for an unsuccessful package delivery attempt.
Further, if I don't get a card, I should download the Aust Post app, so that I'll be able to tell when my package will be delivered. 🤯🤪

I'd become used to the multiple emails from Aust Post, the fairly accurate tracking links, the SMSs on day of delivery, and the timely arrival of my local delivery person.

Now, you get NOTHING! 🤯😡

And apparently now, buying in Australia from China can't be tracked because of Trump???

I only did some enquiring after a weird AliExpress message about customs, and searching the tracking number showed the item had been sitting at the PO for days.

This laser rotary chuck looks a lot like a lathe (you know, those machines with a chuck on the left).
It's packed with the chuck on the left (like a wood lathe, which has the chuck on the left).
The docs all show the chuck to the left (like a metal lathe, which has the chuck to the left).
So I expected that it'd be used with the chuck to the left (like CNC machining stations, which have the chuck to the left).

So WHY does the video say you have to put the chuck to the RIGHT ??? 😱🤯😡

Today's craft project. For no particular reason 😤😡

Mystery solved, but not resolved 😡

Just argued with a THIRD courier who tried to deliver a parcel for the person who got their own address wrong.

Ended up telling them to try the address where she actually lives, and if it turns out to be wrong, they can leave it here, but I can show them the SMS from the location-challenged lady about parcel #2

A #packidge a day keeps the doctor away.
