I’ve tried numerous iOS podcast apps, looking for the one with the best search feature.
Eg, curious about the Vivaldi browser?
Castamatic, Overcast, Downcast all give results related to music.
The stock Apple Podcast app and PocketCast app gives me multiple podcast episodes where the browser is discussed (in addition to music).
The only reason I’ve stuck with the stock app is for this feature.

If I were to switch from #iOS to #Android the only big things I'd miss are:
- #NetNewsWire for #RSS
- #OvercastFM for #podcasting
Any equivalent suggestions?
I already pay for Overcast, so I don't mind paying for something with equivalent functionality: dynamic playback speed to shorten silences, voice boost for clear & consistent volume of speakers. These features make some otherwise unlistenable podcast audio problems easier to handle.
My top podcasts of 2024 (so far). Lots of ATP, Ben Thompson, and Merlin Mann. I miss The Economist audio edition as a podcast feed.
Follow-up on what seems like a reordering bug in the new @overcastfm : I’ve noticed that my reordering is maintained if I use the “Edit Episodes” option in the upper right corner and drag things around. If I simply long-press on an episode and drag it around, it seems to ultimately get re-sorted. I literally watched an episode change positions while browsing the playlist. Just another data point…
