Photo 1 is possible because Photo 2 is happening. Since the 165 St Bus Terminal in Jamaica, Queens closed for reconstruction, 4 bus lines won't run on 89 Ave anymore for a few years. That makes 89 Ave a surprisingly good location for today's block party… …and a weekly #OpenStreet, I dare say. 👀

Good news in #NYC: MacDougal Street in the #westvillage is currently a #carfree #openstreet due to a wrong way police chase of a blacked out Range Rover with NJ plates. The cops have the street blocked off while they wait for the vehicle to be taken to an evidence facility, allowing pedestrians and bargoers some extra space.
