#BathME + #Online - #ClimateConversations: Protecting Bath's #UrbanForest From the Impacts of #EmeraldAshBorer

"Bath's stately ash trees are an important part of our urban forest, but they are under dire threat. The emerald ash borer, an exotic pest that rapidly kills native ash trees, has reached Bath after ravaging forests across the northeast. Members of the Bath Community Forestry Committee will explain the biology of emerald ash borer and how they lead to tree mortality, treatment options, and resources the city is employing to protect ash trees. Participants will also learn how the Maine Forest Service is combating the emerald ash borer with the help of predator insects.

Bath Climate Conversations is a continuing series focused on learning, discussing, and connecting around ways to sustain and support our vibrant town as climate change occurs. Hosted by Bath #ClimateAction Commission in partnership with #KennebecEstuaryLandTrust and the #PattenFreeLibrary and presented in person and/or on Zoom. Registration is required for Zoom only."

Tuesday, March 31, 2026
12:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Library Park Gazebo, #PattenFreeLibrary

"Free fresh vegetables gleaned from local farms provided by the #MerrymeetingGleaners and #MidCoast #HungerPrevention Program. Find the Sharing Table outside the Children's Room from September-May and in the Gazebo during the summer.

"Sharing tables are open to anyone, there is no income or residency requirement and they are 100% anonymous. The tables are stocked with fresh produce as well as some prepared items, processed using any surplus gleaned food. Take what you need and leave the rest for your friends and neighbors. Produce will vary depending on what is available from the farms and gardens. Please bring your own bags. Learn more about this terrific program."

#BathME - #RepairCafe

Saturday, April 4th, 2026
10am-12:30pm

#PattenFreeLibrary
33 Summer Street
Bath, 04530

"Share, Care for and Repair Your Items We host a number of swaps to help you share your unused or gently used consumable items. Look for our quarterly plant swap, weekly hardware swap, and weekly art supply swap on our calendar. We do not accept certain items like old paint that need to be disposed of elsewhere. Instead, learn where to recycle them with the #recyclopedia, and next time you buy do so with thought to the end of life of your product. We also do not accept large amounts of quality items; those are better to give to Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill or other local schools and nonprofits. Care for items you want to keep with our repair cafes and repair kits in our library of things.

What is a Repair Café? A Repair Cafe is a community-based initiative designed to encourage people to repair broken or damaged items rather than discarding them. These events are typically hosted in libraries, community centers, or local spaces and bring together skilled volunteers (repair experts) and community members who need help fixing everyday items. What is the goal of a Repair Cafe? The goal of a Repair Café is to promote sustainability, reduce waste, and foster a sense of community by encouraging people to repair, reuse, and learn new skills.

We can help with:

Electronics & computers
Clothing and leather goods
Small appliances & lamps
Wooden furniture
Knife Sharpening
3D-printed repairs"

#NationalWeekendOfAction #ICEOutForGood

Sat-Sun Jan 10-11

"On Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (#ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On this National Weekend of Action we stand to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions."
