Day 2 of my trip, I started the morning in downtown San Francisco, and by afternoon I found myself in the majestic Yosemite Valley, and I got there without a car!
I used Amtrak bus to Emeryville, Amtrak train to Merced, & YARTS bus into Yosemite NP.
What a beautiful place! I look forward to exploring it further

I've sworn to never use cars, except in life-threatening emergencies.

One exception I had to make was for the birth of my child: we had to borrow a car. We could anticipate when Maggie would go into labor, but we could not show up at the hospital early. There is a bus stop at the hospital, we could have used public transit if we didn't have to wait until it was an (artificial) emergency.

Do other places have solutions for #carfree births? (Home birth was too risky for us.)

Anvers / Antwerpen, Belgium. Grand Place, hôtel de ville et Fontaine de Brabo / Brabofontein. Silvius Brabo aurait réussi à tuer le géant Druon Antigoon, lui aurait coupé la main et l'aurait jeté dans le fleuve. Antwerpen, le nom néerlandais d'Anvers, signifierait - selon une légende liée à l'origine du nom de la ville - « jeter la main » (« hand werpen »), mais cette étymologie populaire est contestée par les spécialistes, dont certains pensent que le nom d'Antwerpen viendrait plus prosaïquement de aan het werpen qui désigne la jetée d'un port.
