I remember there was a page on #Nlnet website about organizations which would fund open source research and/or development. But I can't find it. Anyone?
Boosts appreciated.

Just checked how many connected NR instances there are combined for my Alexa and Google Home nodes.
If I can convince 1% of them to chip in $1 a month then the costs are covered.

"Wait. You mean we can exploit the workers we pay AND the ones we don't pay? Oh hell yeah!"
So I guess my question is (sorry this is so rambly, nuance is hard!!)⊠how would you as an ethical open source project with diverse interests and a community of users with strong feelings around âAIâ approach this?
I almost feel like we need to distinguish the current generative AI hype from ML-powered features when it comes to public communicationâbut *also* lean into âAIâ when looking at funding. And that distinction is⊠hard.
Like it or notâand I absolutely *hate* itââAIâ is where the hype is now. I donât want to play into it. I think âgenerative AIâ is extraordinarily overblown, problematic, and burning an immeasurable amount of resources. So letâs not do _that_.
But if you could secure a grant to âintegrate helpful, privacy-respecting AI featuresâ into GNOME⊠wouldnât you? To be clear, this would include the features I mentioned earlierânot generative AI.
