This week's Linux and FOSS news:

LINUX NEWS

Vendefoul Wolf Linux (Devuan-based) rejects age verification:
https://xcancel.com/vendefoulwolf/status/2035441292520386852#m
(Never heard of this distro before, but it's always good to have some more options to go to, especially distros which reject most of the mainstream stuff which are more prone to age verification and other forms of corruption.)

Qubes will do whatever upstream Fedora does (so likely comply):
https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-issues/issues/10744#issuecomment-3997244349

CachyOS also refuses compliance:
https://discuss.cachyos.org/t/age-verification-systemd/26316

Garuda Linux plans to "comply" in the least invasive way possible, only with some checkboxes:
https://forum.garudalinux.org/t/a-statement-on-age-verification-the-state-of-the-community-discourse/47652

Parrot will only comply if legally forced to, it's implementation will be easy to bypass:
https://parrotsec.org/blog/2026-04-02-our-statement-about-age-verification/
(I wonder what they mean under being forced. When they receive an email from the authorities, or what? πŸ€”)

OpenMandriva won't implement age verification, but won't remove it from Systemd, stating it can be useful for other things:
https://forum.openmandriva.org/t/systemd-adds-age-verification-are-you-serious/8793/75?u=xseagdc
(The comment right below describes pretty well, what the problem is with this...)

CuerdOS (Debian-based distro) rejects age verification:

HyraxOS (Linux Mint-based distro) also refuses age verification:
https://hyraxos.weebly.com/age.html

Fluff Linux (Arch-based) also says no:
https://xcancel.com/flufflinux/status/2033885428030575025#m

And Athena OS (Arch and NixOS-based ethical hacking distro) too:

Debian Is Figuring Out How Age Verification Laws Will Impact It:

Ok this is the final setup of my OpenMandriva installation.
I installed xfce, because is my favorite desktop, but for now I'll stick with plasma6.
I really like "Commonality" color scheme.

Switched to OpenMandriva.

#SonicDE is being demoed on a #Steam Deck by the @openmandriva devs at #FOSDEM in Brussels. They launched, quote, "the most expensive marketing program in history" :-D;-) and we're happy to be part of it. Visit them at booth H4, or get the upcoming SonicDE packages for #OpenMandriva in the next few days.

P.S. The slogan on the front of the OpenMandriva booth reads:

OPENMANDRIVA - The OS Of Choice For Those Who Prefer Good Code Over Good Marketing

The @openmandriva devs are demoing their distribution with #XLibre at #FOSDEM in Brussels. They brought an #AMD BC250, a #GPD MicroPC 2 UMPC, a #Radxa Orion O6 #ARMv9 SBC, and a #Steam Deck, all running XLibre on #OpenMandriva Cooker.

They said, "OpenMandriva is pleased to announce the launch of the most expensive marketing program in history at FOSDEM." ;-) You can experience this gem at booth H4.
