The maintainers of #Vendefoul Wolf Linux added #SonicDE 6.3.5 packages to their stable release based on #Devuan 6 Excalibur. They also announced to stop releasing any ISOs with #KDE Plasma and solely focus on SonicDE. Please see their announcements at https://x.com/vendefoulwolf/status/2033263815337361840 and https://x.com/vendefoulwolf/status/2037572707928162659.
The maintainers of @openmandriva have created initial packages for #SonicDE and are now calling for testers. You're welcome to read the instructions and leave feedback at https://forum.openmandriva.org/t/sonicde-call-for-testing/8822.
SonicDE call for testing

Thanks to the SonicDE team we are now able to start preliminary testing of their X11 only fork of Plasma. Please be advised of the following caveats: The sonic-* packages make use of a mix of KDE and SonicDE dependencies at this time. The SonicDE dependencies have not had an asset rename, yet. As a result, you cannot have both plasma and sonic packages installed at the same time. There are conflicts baked into the packages that will not allow it. 📢 Child Protection Is Not Access Control

Age verification is spreading beyond adult sites into social media, messaging, gaming. Even operating systems. The framing says it's for children. The effect is something else: a permissioned internet where access requires proof of identity.

We can and should protect children without turning the network into a checkpoint.

Do Not Turn Child Protection Into Internet Access Control

Age verification turns the open internet into a permission system and pushes control away from families, schools, and users.

Rumor already has it, and it's true. We’re currently working on removing #Wayland support from #SonicDE and the underlying forked libraries. This will pave the way for us to focus on preserving and improving our #X11 version of #KDE #Plasma 6.
#SonicDE third-party packages are now available for #Debian and #Devuan. They are compiled for both the #amd64 and #arm64 architectures. You're welcome to test the packages and to contribute at https://github.com/sonicde-debian/debian .
We're happy to announce yet another porting effort for #SonicDE, this time to #FreeBSD. You're welcome to contribute, test the ports, and create more at https://github.com/sonicde-freebsd .

We've started implementing a #Vulkan backend for the sonic-win window manager. That's an alternative to #OpenGL and could bring us a step closer to #HDR rendering. Please see https://github.com/Sonic-DE/sonic-win/issues/13 . #SonicDE

#SonicDE was introduced today as a spin of the new #Vendefoul Wolf #Linux series #Viriato. Viriato is based on #Devuan 7 Freia with kernel 6.18. You can download the testing ISO at https://vendefoul-wolf-linux.sourceforge.io, scrolling through to "VENDEFOUL SONICDE - DEVUAN 7."

#SonicDE is being demoed on a #Steam Deck by the @openmandriva devs at #FOSDEM in Brussels. They launched, quote, "the most expensive marketing program in history" :-D;-) and we're happy to be part of it. Visit them at booth H4, or get the upcoming SonicDE packages for #OpenMandriva in the next few days.

P.S. The slogan on the front of the OpenMandriva booth reads:
