as234For someone like me with no geo background, #QGIS is daunting but to create contours from #opengeodata in #niedersachsen for #orienteering maps I just followed some easy steps:
1 Open DEM file (.tif) in QGIS
2 Install extension "Generalizer"
3 Raster -> Extraction -> Contour (I chose 1,25 as interval between lines) -> Run
4 Select new layer (Contour): Vector -> Generalizer -> "Boyle's Forward..."
5 Save new layer (Contour Memory) as GeoJson and import into OOMapper
