This panel discussion hosted at #SiliconCurtain puts again #OpenSource under the limelight. Not that we should rollback the drive towards an #OpenEconomy, sustained by #OpenScience. But we can longer ignore open assets play a role in the dynamics undermining that very vision of a free and open #Society we envision.
Perhaps we need to think of expanding #Licenses with clauses explicitly limiting the use of concerned assets. But that is just a start.

And this does not even begin to scratch the ad-free content shared via the #fediverse, other online #decentralized #federated #networks / #communities.
The reality is we do not need companies to charge us for streaming content to us, on our bandwidth which we are paying for, to surveil us and also sell seconds of our attention to third parties.
They need us, far more than we need them.
