Third time was not the charm. Early January my paper was rejected by another journal. This one stung a bit. Unlike the last one, it didn’t include any reviewer comments. It took me a bit, but I have submitted to a 4th journal. My 9yo completed 8th grade math last week and is already 27% of the way through Algebra I.

She has completed high school physics and is 51% of the way through high school chemistry.

She leads the way in her education and proudly tells people she’s in 9th grade now.

In my family, we celebrate the Glorious 8th, the anniversary of the victory at the Battle of New Orleans.
Eat some boudin. Drink a Hurricane.

Diversity makes our country richer. Had that victory not taken place, the Hartford Convention might have forced a smaller, poorer nation in the name of being less diverse.

Now that I’m back in the academic-journal waiting game, I’m settling once more into the second draft of my first book, Beyond Survival: Forgotten Heroes and the Evolution of a New Humanity. That means returning to the mid-19th century when a conceptual leap would stop hospitals from being death traps. At the time, one was even grateful to leave missing limbs.
