It's funny, a few years ago I was telling people that the cost of electricity would eventually approach zero, as solar panel efficiency improved, but I honestly think people thought I was mad. Talking about "free energy" still makes people think you must have a screw loose. But if you don't think in capitalist terms, and try to imagine a world where technology and traditional lifestyles in which humans barely worked to survive (hunter gatherers didn't have to work too many hours to hunt and gather enough food to live) can coexist, a better world where we have our needs met and DON'T destroy our environment is actually possible.

Forecast negative not only Feed In Tarriffs but also usage costs: for Wed 25th October 2023 in my region of Victoria: the lowest I've ever seen. Getting paid for using power, it's a really interesting feature of the current energy transition. I will be using, for the first time, #Sensibo to schedule heat pump use even though I won't be at home, and see what this does to my costs for the day... 🤔

... switch to Amber, I guess? My power prices are very reasonable, and I use a lot of my own generated solar power to charge up my #EV. I also think now might be the time to think about investing in a crypto rig that is triggered to turn on only when I am generating excess power, so I don't pay negative feed-in tariffs. (only half joking there btw... either that or something like protein folding? thoughts?)
