1/5 I just read The Norwegian Method Applied by Marius Bakken.

I like the book. There's a lot of knowledge in it, mostly things experienced runners familiar with the concept of sweet spot training know. What the book adds is organization and concepts to organize one's thinking around, as well as few new things. I think the structure, emphases and insight in these chapters is very valuable.

Unfortunately, I feel that the book has a large hole in it.

“The #NorwegianMethod is about managing load over time. Threshold-adjacent work is executed at an internal intensity high enough to drive adaptation, yet stable enough to be repeated with quality. The goal is not individual sessions that impress, but weeks that hold together”

Thought I’d have a go at the “Norwegian Method” today, 4x4 minutes with 3 minutes jog recovery. Happy with the effort put in and averaging 4:41 min/km will be a good benchmark to start with #running #4x4minutes #intervaltraining #polarrunning #norwegianmethod #runnersofmastodon #RunningCommunity
