The #NikonF301 is way too nice to use in the #ShittyCameraChallenge. It's got everything you'd need from a 35mm cam.

✅ full manual controls
✅ F-mount
✅ built-in light meter + aperture priority
✅ exposure comp dial
✅ 1" to 1/2000
✅ manual rewind (won't swallow your film leader)
✅ literally screams at you when you try to be "artistic" and underexpose a scene

What's there not to like?! 🤔

Status so far:

The #NikonF301 works. Light meter gives realistic values and spot-checking it with my external light meter seems decent.

The #NikonF401S had some serious corrosion in the battery compartment. Cleaned it off with some rubbing alcohol, now it detects the batteries and even focusses with the #Nikkor AF 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5. BUT it won't recognize the (DX-coded) roll of Tri-X I put in. Bummer.
