I think #racing #videogames are the only other genre than #rhythmgames where having a good #soundtrack is a non-negotiable part of making it good. To have a mediocre soundtrack in a racing game is pretty much the same as if you had a bad gameplay mechanic.
There's a reason that despite #Nightrunners being a pretty simple "Isekai survival" racing game due to all of the fucking trucks you have to avoid, people vibe hard with it and it's already a cult classic.

Geez, I love #NightRunners, but it is Sonic the Hedgehog 1 levels of unforgiving. A funny aspect of the game is that fast travelling to the event area requires you to spend a portion of your winning reputation. So if you are doing well, you can chain races fluidly back-to-back. If you lose, you have to do a drive of shame back to the event area to try to get back in the groove.
I've been losing more than I've been winning, but somehow that just motivates me to keep trying harder.
It's a fun weekend for indie car game enthusiasts. Tomorrow is the full release of Pacific Drive, the creepy car survival roguelite. Then on Friday, we get the public release of the Night Runners demo (and hopefully news of its kickstarter).
