It's interesting that Valve argues more devs should build a single executable that targets Proton as the platform whereas Unity thinks the way forward includes Linux specific binaries. Having seen "Linux builds" kind of fall off in the late stages of a game's support cycle, I'm more inclined to support Valve's philosophy. #linuxgaming

Have I mentioned how much I love #bazzite today?

When she was very young, my daughter looked me straight in the eye, right out of the blue, and said to me with the utter earnestness only a 3-year-old can summon:

“Be brave! Be safe! Be purple!”

I’ve been hanging on to that advice a lot lately.

Haha! I successfully got my five year old to watch and enjoy a @TechConnectify video. He innocently asked "how can you even make things colder?"

Well kiddo, let me introduce you to a little thing called the refrigeration cycle!

It feels like lemmy is really starting to pick up in adoption. It's a good feeling.
Feels so good to ask "this youtuber is neat, are they on the fediverse?" and found out YES!

Having a genre where my city or empire is the main character, the main sources of challenge come from the growing pains of a larger settlement and dealing with external forces of nature rather than AI "players" participating in a competitively balanced board game that can't actually play the game well so difficulty comes from giving them free stuff.

#Frostpunk remains one of my favorites, where struggling against the death spiral remains very engaging. #NewCycle is quite fun too.

I've been trying to get into #HumankindGame and #Civ7 again, but the more I play them, the more I realize how much I love the #colonysim genre.

I mostly just ignore the conflict as best I can and build up everything, getting irritated when interaction from the AI starts impeding me. Often I don't find the strategy of combat tactically or narratively fulfilling, so it's more of an annoyance than a challenge.
