Вера Огарёва (Vera Ogareva) has been producing fascinating #Russian music for a couple decades now, initially as singer/songwriter for electro-folk bands Ива Нова and Velena, but eventually settling into a longterm vocal spot in #NickSoudnick's #avantgarde / #postindustrial group #ZGA. Her voice can take many forms, shifting with ease from operatic purity to harsh, street-level growling and all points in between. Ongoing Russian internet censorship means it's tricky to keep up to date with her activities (her VK page hasn't been updated in years) but idiosyncratic "operas" continue to appear with clockwork-like regularity on ZGA's Bandcamp site, any/all of which are worth exploring.
