I wish that deranged collaboration tool #teams we're being tortured with nowadays would be more like its ancient predecessor: Microsoft #NetMeeting. Its feature set was ahead of its time and the clean, native UI was made for productivity. Unfortunately - besides being EOL - it doesn't support IPv6 & is based on H.323, which means it won't work behind NAT offhand.

Comprendre donc les plateformes de chat textuelles qui demande un logiciel indépendant, hors du navigateur.
Une large part des contenus proposés gravitent autour du protocole #IRC, et sont de fait toujours accessibles (#IRCHelp et #mIRC notamment). On notera également qu'#ICQ existe toujours, même s'il est confidentiel.
#MSN Messenger, #NetMeeting ou #AIM ont eux totalement disparus.
I think the introduction (invention, discovery?) of this protocol (and its associates) is what made all audio and video calling IP programs we have today (there are dozens - Skype, Zoom, Facetime, Messenger, and dozens more) possible.
I remember the problem at the time severely limited deployment and use of programs like NetMeeting.

It's amazing how much has changed in 25 years. In 1998 I was a Microsoft Netmeeting MVP. VoIP and video calling was barely functional in the internet of the day. Now there are dozens of fully functional (and free) video calling programs.
