Northern red-legged #frog is native to South Western #BritishColumbia to Nothern California.
On #VancouverIsland their habitats are under threat from industrial pollution & human development. They are also under threat from more aggressive, invasive frogs like the American bullfrog & the bronze frog.

One of the great pleasures of cultivating a home #garden is the daily ritual of #foraging fresh greens for lunch.

I wandered down to pick some greens and give the tadpoles their daily feed (cucumber slices). Yes, although it’s almost winter here, native frog tadpoles are still fattening up, ready to metamorphose next month. But also attracted to our pond this time of year are these gorgeous Eastern Billabongflies.

And today, like most days this past month, I spent timeless moments of pure joy watching our fleet of blue damselflies flitting about tasting flowers, veg and each other, then resting satisfied in the warmth of the low sun.
