I know we don't have equipment to plow sidewalks and curb ramps, but getting #NCDOT to stop using them as a literal dumping ground for the snow cleared for cars would be helpful. Those of us who walk or use the bus to get to work have no option but to walk in the road to get around these piles.

Hitting these shaded areas that stay well below freezing has to be tough. You'd have to do the salt/sand thing prior to any sun angle changes - then send in the plows(*)

And none of us really want that de-icing mix to drain out to the waterways out here either

* I'm starting to think that my subconscious just orchestrated this whole post so that it could torture me with an earworm the rest of the day 😂

🎶 But where are the plows?
🎶 Quick, send in the plows

My particular secondary road in #orangecountync #ncdot really doesn't seem to have the resources or the organizational capacity at this time to have gotten out in front of this one

The trope that people like to express is that #ncdot never gets out in front - which is definitely not true - it just seems maddeningly inconsistent

Between the coming snow and long-range 8-14 day outlook from the NWS - the rural areas of the county are going to be treacherous for probably another week+half #ncwx

This is a #transportation thread I promise, if only because the halftime show involved a bunch of #NCDOT big wigs standing on the court during a ceremony to rename #Davidson 's interstate exit after #StephCurry
#NCDOT is out here, trying to kill me attempting to be a pedestrian in their state.
#NCDOT 's guidance on pedestrian detours is actually very clear and surprisingly decent....and ROUTINELY ignored all across the state. Just a few days ago, a pedestrian in a nearby city was killed when trying to navigate an out-of-compliance pedestrian detour. 23/n
What I seen though is #NCDOT guidance on pedestrian detours on NCDOT roads, *blatantly* violated here for going on a month. 22/n connect.ncdot.gov/projects/WZT...

So, this has been bugging me for a while. A "construction" project (in quotes because I've yet to see anyone working on it) has led to the closure of a #sidewalk along an exceptionally high #pedestrian traffic corridor in town. #NCDOT long🧵 maps.app.goo.gl/hJBei6euY1tK...
NCDOT resumes intercity bus service to Asheville nearly 1 year after Hurricane Helene

Beginning Aug. 1, intercity bus service resumes in Asheville, connecting travelers to Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Greensboro.

More messing with the traffic flow on I26 in #Asheville occurred overnight (and our local paper let folks know about it at 5pm) in advance of changes to the BRP bridge traffic and the new interchange.

This has been going on for some time...
